Forte invectiva contra a obra mestra do Pe. Manuel Pereira da Silva Leal (1694-1733), da
autoria de um seu consócio da Academia Real da História Portuguesa. D. Francisco de
Almeida (1701-1745), era filho de D. João de Almeida, 3º conde de Assumar e irmão de D.
Diogo Fernandes de Almeida que também se envolveu em polémica com o Pe. Manuel Leal.
Edição muito bem impressa, com uma vinheta heráldica e uma inicial capitular, gravadas
por Debrie na primeira página de texto. Encadernação da época, inteira de carneira, com a
lombada danificada na coifa. Inocêncio, II, p. 325.

Strong invective against the masterpiece of Father Manuel Pereira
da Silva Leal (1694-1733), authored by a co-member of the Royal
Academy of Portuguese History. D. Francisco de Almeida (1701-1745),
was the son of D. João de Almeida, 3rd Count of Assumar and brother
of D. Diogo Fernandes de Almeida, who also became involved in a
controversy with Father Manuel Leal. A very well printed edition,
with an heraldic vignette and an initial chapter, engraved by Debrie
on the first page of the text. Entire calf binding of the time with
damaged spine on the endcap. Innocent, II, p. 325.
The collection consists of two volumes published by the diligence of the Count of Ericeira (Congregation of the Oratory, 1735), the third
volume, very unusual, of the initiative of Fr. Francisco António Monteiro (Officina Sylviana, 1746), to which a fourth volume is added
containing The letters to Duarte Ribeiro de Macedo, whose editor was José Luis Pinto de Queiroz. The collation of the first three volumes
is as follows: I - [28 (alias 24)], 468 p .; II - [12], 479 p .; III - [24], 451 p. The first volume lacking two preliminary sheets (Fr. Alexandre
Ferreira’s opinion and final licenses). The first volume, a little trimmed, lined with recente entirecalf binding; The second volume with
traces of moth work; The third volume with slight stains at the beginning. The last three volumes with entire calf bindings of the time,

Conjunto constituído pelos dois volumes publicados por diligencia
do Conde da Ericeira (Congregação do Oratório, 1735), pelo terceiro
tomo, muito invulgar, da iniciativa do Pe. Francisco António
Monteiro (Officina Sylviana, 1746), aos quais se junta um quarto
volume contendo as cartas a Duarte Ribeiro de Macedo, cujo editor
foi José Luis Pinto de Queiroz. A colação dos três primeiros tomos
é a seguinte: I - [28 (aliás 24)], 468 p.; II - [12], 479 p.; III - [24],
451 p. O primeiro volume com falta de duas folhas preliminares
(parecer do Pe. Alexandre Ferreira e licenças finais). Primeiro tomo
um pouco aparado, revestido de encadernação inteira de carneira,
recente; segundo tomo com vestígios de trabalho de traça; terceiro
tomo com ligeiras manchas no início. Os três últimos tomos com
encadernações da época, inteiras de carneira, um pouco cansadas.
