Manuscript on parchment section. Royal charter granting a pension of 100,000 réis to Duarte Pires Solis, registered at the Casa dos Cincos of the Lisbon Customs House, for the purchase of 1,600,000 réis in interest that the king put up for sale to finance the preparation of ships for the India route, because two ships, with all their cargo, were lost off the coast of France in 1626. It includes copies of the Royal Decree for the sale of the interest and 20 receipts for the purchase of interest by Duarte Pires Solis and other individuals. Document dated Lisbon, June 11, 1627. Signature and seal:“El Rey”. Includes three endorsements. 1st (February 26, 1629): Philip III transfers the pension of 100,000 réis to Simão Pires Solis, son of Duarte Pires Solis, and upon Simão's dKing Philip III transfers the pension of 100,000 réis to the Brotherhood of Slaves of the Blessed Sacrament of the Church of Santa Engrácia, Lisbon, following the trial and execution of Simão Pires Solis “pello diabolico e sacriligo excesso que cometeo na igreja de Santa Engracia desta cidade”, his assets were applied to the Confraternity of Slaves of the Blessed Sacrament of that church (signature by seal “El Rey”); 3rd (22/04/1675): Prince Regent Dom Pedro (future King Dom Pedro II) reduces the pension of the Brotherhood of Slaves of the Blessed Sacrament of the Church of Santa Engrácia to 80,000 réis (autograph signature: “O Príncipe”). A parchment section, now unsewn, with two bifolios and three half-sheets (central bifolio folded in reverse), holes for affixing the pendant seal (missing). Very legible cancelleresque handwriting, with some faded areas near the folds.
