The first two volumes, dated 1675, in the original edition (the engraved frontpage of the second volume belongs to a variant) and the third volume in the second edition, dated 1680. The first volume closes a history of the world since its inception until the foundation of Portuguese nationality. The second and third are made up of the history of the various reigns, respectively up to Kings D. João III and Philip III, including the intact portraits of all the monarchs (22 intaglio engravings), including that of Count D. Henrique. The collation of the first two volumes is as follows: volume I - [8], 491, [1] p .; Volume II - [8], 224 (alias 624) p .: 16 portraits. The pagination of the third volume shows a jump from p. 240 to p. 341. The cover pages of the first two volumes are intaglio engraved; That of the third is typographed. First and third volume with manuscript ownership of the time: From Diogo de Fon [se] ca to Pinto de Albuq [uerqu]e and (probably the chief captain of the town of Trancoso in the second half of the 18th century). The third volume presents a shorter second folio and notebook S (6 sheets), indicating that they have been added from another copy. The three volumes with slight acidity. A working copy with several faults and imperfetions, consisting of volumes I (Juifs et Chrétiens Catholiques), II (Catholiques Romains), VI (Peuples Idolâtres), VII ([première partie] Peuples Idolâtres), VII ([deuxième partie] Peuples Idolâtres) e XII (second des Superstitions). The set has numerous faults and imperfections, difficult to discriminate. The most serious and visible are the following: Volume I (disjointed): includes 27 full page engraving (frontispiece + 26 engravings accordingto index), lacking engravings 4, 17, 21, 22 and 28 (all double), deep worm cut affecting the last 12 leaves and 3 engravings), slight watertide stain in the upper third; volume II: prserves all the 33 engravings (5 double), but the 5 first ones are dameged by watertide stains worm cuts, the last 20 leaves and the 2 engravings (remaining engravings, clean, including 3 double); volume VI (no stains or cuts: lacking 7 engravings of the 27 that should contain (3, 5, 6, 13, 19, 23 and 26); volume VII (1st part): complete with the 44 engravings, but about half of the volume and engravings damaged by heavy stains of fungi and worm cuts; volume VII (2nd part): complete with the 33 engravings, clean and with no cuts; volume XII: complete with the 2 engravings, worm cut on the lower margin of the first half and heavy watertide stain and fungi on the second half. Fine entire racinée calf bindings of the time with smooth spines.
