Important collection of prints
ROGERS, Charles.- A collection of prints in imitation of drawings. To which are annexed lives of their authors.- London: printed by J. Nichols, 1778.- 2 vols.: il.; 52 cm.- E. Charles Rogers (1711-1784), a learned English collector and patron of art, hired the best engravers of the time, including Bartolozzi, Basire and Ryland, to reproduce, with the most appropriate engraving techniques, not only his collection of drawings , but also those of other collectors: That these prints may be faithful imitations, they are engraved the same way as, as well as the same size, as the originals are drawn; and printed, as nearly as possible, in the same colours. Among the artists represented are Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael, Caravaggio, Correggio, Poussin, Boucher, Rubens, van Dyck, Rembrandt, etc. The collation of each of the volumes is as follows: vol. I - [6], VI, 217, [3] p .: il .; vol. II - [4], 246 p .: il. Copy with nine prints in the first volume and five in the second (Guercino's two prints, which should follow page 116, are bound between pages 84 and 85 of the first volume). Each of one of them includes an index that, however, is not very reliable. Altogether, the two volumes reproduce more than a hundred works of art in engraved prints, largely dotted, sepia, bisque, gray and gray-green (five of them are double prints). The edition is printed on high quality paper. Copy with slight acidity and occasional stains. Entire calf bindings of the twentieth century.

CAMÕES, Luís de.- Os Lusiadas.- Critical-commemorative edition of the third centenary of the death of the great poet / published in Oporto by Emilio Biel.- Oporto; Leipzig: Typographia Giesecke & Devrient, 1880.-LVI, 375, XXXII, XCII p .: il .; 40 cm.- E. Special print run of 100 registered copies. A monumental, high-graphic edition, illustrated with steel engravings, printed in Leipzig and a chromolithography at the beginning of each corner, as well as other decorative motifs. Includes valuable studies by José Gomes Monteiro and Mendes Leal. Copy number 39, the word 'à la presse' (property of Arminius Von Dœllinger), the special print run of 100, printed on heavy paper, signed by the printer and the publisher. Small stain on the top edge of the first 30 sheets. The copy retains the original entire Moroccan binding with engraving stamped on the top plane; in the back plane, the mark of the bookbinder surmounted by small iron with the coat of arms of Saxony: Gustav Fritzsche, bookbinder of the Royal Court of Saxony. Leaf cut carefully decorated in blue and gold. José do Canto, 117. Palha, 1711.

Manuscript.- Arismetica.- 18th Century (1753-1782) .- [178] p .; 21 cm.- E., 18th C. calligraphed and painted manuscript, presenting the following structure: title page (Arismetica); 1 f. with the coat of arms of Portugal (painted); 76 p. with frames of rod reductions of various textiles; 6 p. with a summary and several instructions of accounts (of the Italian, the baker, the tavernman, the gentleman, the merchant and the sacristan); 1 f. with the Pythagoras Table (painted and signed Marçal J. the fes); 6 p. with notes on the Table; 1 f. with painted interlayer (Arismetica & c.); 2 p. with a novel (in verse); 1 p. with the title Taboada Curioza; 17 p. with tables and instructions on various types of commercial accounts (pieces of cloth and cereals); 1 f. of painted and dated interlayer face (1782 - The reduction of rods of certain genera and prices, & c.); 40 p. with price lists. The volume of fatigued full calf binding of the time with nineteenth century guards. Document slightly handled with some scratches (and scribbles) and occasional light stains but solid and fully readable.

According to Barbosa Machado, Fr. Manuel Pousão (1593-1683), was a native of Alandroal and professed at the Convent of Graça, Lisbon, of the Order of St. Augustine, where he was Master of the Chapel. The edition, printed in Lyon for unknown reasons, consists of 20 notebooks (A-T4, V5), a cover sheet and 80 sheets with traditional square black musical notation on five-line rows in red. An up-to-date version of previous Plainsongs, such as the Passionnaire of Fr. Estêvão, printed in Lisbon in 1595, introduces new melodic forms, reducing the vocalizations of great extension, of Byzantine expression. In this regard, one should read "The Passion Song in the 16th and 17th Centuries: the Portuguese Singularity", by José Maria Pedrosa Cardoso, Coimbra, 2006 (5.1.4., P. 149 et seq.), from where part of the elements were collected for the present discription. Ownership manuscript, on the title page: From the Convent of Graça of Torres-vedras. Trimmed specimen, slightly handled and with some acidity. Entire calf binding of the time, slightly fatigued, to which the super-libros of the House of Palmela, on both planes, were added in the 19th century. Vieira, II, p. 230.

From the list of his collaborators are the most striking names in Portuguese literary literature, such as Fernando Pessoa, José Régio, Almada, Júlio, Gaspar Simões, Carlos Queiroz, Branquinho da Fonseca, Raul Leal, Mário Saa and many others. Set packaged in 1 box and 4 volumes, containing: I (box) - numbers 1 to 14/15 (in brochure); II - numbers 16 to 27 + volume index first; III - numbers 28 to 48 + volume index second; IV - numbers 49 to 53/54 + third volume index; V - numbers I and II (series II, of smaller format). # 1 and # 2 slightly handled; nº 3 (8 p.) with severe failure of leaves 3/4 and 5/6 (inner bifolio), with replacement facsimiles; No. 14/15 (double), with small tear on the last two leaves, without lack of support. Otherwise, all the numbers in good condition. The set also includes the single commemorative issue, published in Coimbra in 1977. Box and volumes covered with blue linson.

Remarkable copy for its romantic bindings (slightly post publishing date), slightly fatigued, entire red wide grain Morocco with fine gold work on the plans and spines; green silk moirée guards (doublures) with gold decoration on wheels to the boards and gilt leaf cutting. At the center of all the plans, a guided ducal coronet surrounded by multiple dry and golden borders. Copy with some acidity. Probably Parisian bindings with signs of bookworm working mainly on the inner side of the joints. Inocêncio, I, p. 83
