The author (18th century), a St. Augustine hermit, as well as other positions, was provincial vicar of the Algarve. As Innocent says (IX, p. 283), the more than two hundred preliminary numbered pages contain ... a deluge of sonnets, acrostics novels, anagrams, epigrams, etc., all about Empress Maria Theresa [of Austria (1717-1780), sovereign of Hungary and Bohemia], and her name and the grandeur of the House of Austria, in Portuguese and even in French and Latin. An illustrated edition with two intaglio engravings (taille douce): a frontispiece depicting the coat of arms of the House of Austria and a portrait of the Empress (with underscription: Michel Le Bouteux fecit-Vlisipone, 1743). A slightly trimmed copy (gold and chiselled leaves cutting), with extensive notes of the time on the preliminary pages; minor fault on the title page support without prejudice to the text; occasional stains and handling. Ex-libris of the António Capucho. Entire calf binding of the time, slightly fatigued and disjointed with golden borders and cetral rectangles on both plans, at the centre of which presents, also gold engraved, the coat of ams of Portugal with Royal Crown.
