SURIREY DE SAINT-REMY, Pierre.- Memoires d’artillerie.- Troisiéme edition, beaucoup plus ample & plus complette que la seconde.- A Paris: Chez Rollin Fils, 1745.- 3 vols.: il.; 26 cm.- E. French General, born in Saint-Remy, the author (1645-1716) was grand master of artillery under Louis XIV. The work, published initially in 1692, was considered mandatory reference in the matter throughout the 18th century. The agenda of each one of the volumes is as follows: I-[16], LXIV, 338 p.: 1 engraved front, 1 picture, 59 engravings; II-[16], 400 p.: 106 engravings; III-[12], 468, [38] p.: 43 engravings. The total of engravings is 210, being 40 leaflets, some of large dimensions. Slight acidity at the beginning of the first volume; Tomo II with water and moisture stains (tidal stains) on the bottom half of the last 120 sheets, affecting some etchings, four of which exhibit smaller restoration on the back. Ownership manuscripts of the time on the three volumes: François de la Tour en Voivre. Complete Copy with all the engravings neatly folded, binding of the time, entire calf, fatigued, with signs of bookworm work the on spines.

António Ardizzone.- CORDEL | TRIPLICADO DE AMOR | A CHRISTO JESU SACRAMENTADO, | Ao Encuberto de Portugal nacido, A seu Reyno restaurado, | LANÇADO EM TRES LIVROS DE SERMOENS, | DA FELIS ACLAMAÇAM D'EL REY DOM IOAM IV...- Lisboa: Na Impressaõ de Antonio Craesbeeck de Mello, 1680.- [84], 735, [109] p.: [8 (aliás 7)] gravuras.; 20 cm.- E. The author (1609-1697), a teatino religious from Naples remained long years in Portugal, with a stay in India between 1639 and 1648. The work is divided into three parts, each with its own title page but with continuous paging the first dedicated to the acclamation of King D. João IV, entitled «Portugal restituido na decima sexta geraçam de seus reys naturaes...» (p. 1 a 224); the second, which includes four sermons preached in Goa, «A Sagrada Comunham Restaurada na India...» (p. 225 a 579) and the tird one dedicated to «Annos desejados, e nacimentos felices da Magestade d'El-Rey de Portugal Dom Ioam IV» (p. 581 a 735). The Edition is illustrated with eight Burin engravings: two portraits of D. Pedro, Prince Regent, very similar (but the first one by Thomas Dudley and the second one by Clemente Bilingue, missing in this copy), a portrait of King D. João IV, a family tree of Jesus Christ and two of the Royal generation and consanguinity of Christ with King D. João IV, a portrait of the author during the Acclamation faced an assistance of Gentiles in India (Ernesto Soares, 3246) and a portrait of King D. João IV, still young. Ernesto Soares, on his História da gravura artística», refers to all these engravings (759) by assigning them to the English Thomas Dudley (TDF signatures), except the third family tree that is signed CB (Clement Bilingue). The eition was ordered to be suppressed and forbidden its reading by edict of the Real Mesa Censória in 1775, hence the rarity of the copies. This is a trimmed copy with some bookworm marginal cuts, but generally clean. Recent mottled calf binding. The work, bearing the theme of the first and third parts may be included in the bibliography of the Restoration period, but not referred to in the catalogue of the Viscount of Trindade. Original edition, illustrated with four engravings in red representing the emblems of the various habits. It should be noted that the order of Christ was established by Papal Bull of Pope John XXII (1319) at the request of King D. Dinis I of Portugal, and came to inherit all the estates of the order of the Temple, and is thus considered an order exclusively Portuguese. It came to have great influence at the time of the discoveries, especially under the wise administration of Prince Henry the Navigator. In addition to the statutes, the Edition includes several bulls concerning the history of the order. The copy is complete but presents some confusion in the way books were organized and bound: [1] f. with face (blank back); [4] engravings in red; [1] f. with licenses (blank back); [2] folios with the titles index (signatures ¶ 1 and ¶ 3, by mistake, instead of ¶ 2); text of p. 1 to p. 274 (with paging and foliation errors; Folio Z3 bound after Folio Z1 and before Folio Z2); [7] final alphabetic index folios (Folio ¶ 5 bound after Folio ¶ 3 and before Folio ¶ 4). Slight trimming and slight acidity; small stains of paint along the bottom cut of the first seven leaves; small central bookworm hole on the first 11 leaves. Moreover, a very clean and solid copy. Ex-libris of Victor d 'Avila Perez (not included on the auction catalogue). Entire calf binding of the time, keeping the original guards. Inocêncio, II, p. 132. Samodães, 1016. Arouca, D5.

António Caetano de.- Historia genealogica da Casa Real Portugueza, desde a sua origem até o presente, com as familias illustres, que procedem dos Reys, e dos Serenissimos Duques de Bragança.- Lisboa Occidental: Na Officina de Joseph Antonio da Sylva, 1735-1749.- 12 tomos em 13 vols. + 1 vol. de índice: il.; 28 cm.- E. A Monumental work that can be considered a general history of the Kingdom so varied is the information it contains. A Set composed by 12 volumes of history, bound in 13, plus the volume of contentes but missing the 6 volumes of "Evidences". The first volume, in addition to the engraved frontispiece, is embelished with a portrait of the author. The fourth volume includes engravings of the Royal Seals, medals and coins minted in Portugal since the beginning of the monarchy. With the exception of volume IX, with slight stains on the first 10 leaves and the index volume, which features some stains on the bottom margin of the first 6 leaves, the set is very well kept, clean and with large margins. Bindings of the time (volumes I and IV slightly very different), entire chagrin with signs of bookworm work, especially on the spines, which do not affect the interior.
