The Architectural project for Villa Sotto Mayor (Sotto Mayor Palace in Lisbon)
NOGUEIRA, Engeneer António Rodrigues.- Villa Sotto Mayor/draft of A. Rodrigues Nogueira - Lisbon: s.n., 1902 - 9 ink drawings; 46x55 cm.- E. Album containing 9 ink drawings, mounted on cardboard, from the original architectural project, on a scale of 1:100: 4 elevations of the façades, 4 plants (ground floor, first floor, basement and attic) and a cross-section. Drawings signed: the engineer António Rodrigues Nogueira. The so called Sotto Mayor Palace was built between 1902 and 1906 for the banker Cândido Sotto Mayor in a land located in the rising side of Fontes Pereira de Melo Avenue. The initial drawing was the responsibility of the Architec Ezequiel Bandeira, with collaboration of Architect Carlos Alberto Correia Monção. The final draft was signed by army engineering Captain António Rodrigues Nogueira. Currently in the Culture Heritage classifying process, the building is refurbished and is part of a complex that includes, in addition to the Palace, a hotel, a gym, offices and a parking lot. Drawings with few acidity stains of original red percaline-lined binding with a some what fatigued morocco spine and showing on the upper plan the gold engraving: Villa Sotto Mayor - Project of A. R. Nogueira. Lisbon - 1902.

PEDRO SALAZAR DE MENDOZA - 1549-1629

The author (1549-1629), a secular cleric, Spanish historian and genealogist, was a native of Toledo, and was patron and close friend of the painter El Greco. Original edition of a classic work in the history of Spain. Latest 10 leaves with slight handling, presenting the final three as well as the preliminary leaves * 3 and * 4, the outer lower corners rebuilt. Copy lightly trimmed with slight handling, binding of the 20th century and entire spotted calf.

Only one edition of the celebrated "book parties" celebrating the marriage of the princess of France, Marie-Louise-Elisabeth (1727-1759), with Philip of Bourbon (1720-1765), second son of Philip V of Spain. The festivities took place on days 29 and August 30, 1739 in Paris and on an artificial island built for the effect on the river Seine, opposite the Louvre, between the Pont Neuf and the Pont Royal ". The illustrations, intaglio engraved (en taille-douce), include two stickers: one on the front page, with the coat of arms of Paris (185x175 mm), of Bouchardon and another at the beginning of the text (160x315 mm), Rigaud; and 13 prints, of which 8 double leaf, opened by Blondel, according to documents of Bonel, Gabriel, Sallet and Servandoni who was also the author of the project of the island. Clean copy, entire starched calf binding of the time, slightly fatigued, showing at the centre of both plans, the gold engraved super-libros with the coat of arms of the city of Paris. Preserves the original guards in marbled paper. Cicognara, 1507. Cohen-De Ricci, p. 288.

Monumental Edition, entirely stamped monochrome lithograph, certainly very low draught. Includes a cover sheet, a printed dedication to D. Luís I, a portrait of D. Pedro IV, a biography of the King (2 l), a history of the competition and of the monument (4 l), a stamp with the winner of the contest and what is now the square D. Pedro IV (Rossio), in Lisbon and 10 leaves representing the 45 competing projects with details of the first five classified. Copy with author's dedication to José da Silva Mendes Leal, undated. Mendes Leal (1820-1886), writer, journalist, diplomat and politician, born in Lisbon, Deputy and peer of the realm, he was director of the National Library and Grand Master of the Freemasons. All sheets mounted on bands. Slightly handled volume and with slight stains of acidity; two small book worm holes across almost all of the leaves on the outter margin without affecting the images. Entire red Morocco leather binding of the time, with the initials M.L. crowned in the center of the upper plan; gold closed houses on the spine, gold borders on the plans, wheels to the boards and gold trimming of leaves.

Folio xxxvi of a liturgical book, probably na Iberian Breviary from the late 15th century, containing 31 lines, both in the front and on the back, and a total of 14 filigree initials. Some acidity causing occasional corrosion of the support in 4 or 5 lines. Framed with double glass., Iberian [?], 15th C. (?)
