Monumental Edition, entirely stamped monochrome lithograph, certainly very low draught. Includes a cover sheet, a printed dedication to D. Luís I, a portrait of D. Pedro IV, a biography of the King (2 l), a history of the competition and of the monument (4 l), a stamp with the winner of the contest and what is now the square D. Pedro IV (Rossio), in Lisbon and 10 leaves representing the 45 competing projects with details of the first five classified. Copy with author's dedication to José da Silva Mendes Leal, undated. Mendes Leal (1820-1886), writer, journalist, diplomat and politician, born in Lisbon, Deputy and peer of the realm, he was director of the National Library and Grand Master of the Freemasons. All sheets mounted on bands. Slightly handled volume and with slight stains of acidity; two small book worm holes across almost all of the leaves on the outter margin without affecting the images. Entire red Morocco leather binding of the time, with the initials M.L. crowned in the center of the upper plan; gold closed houses on the spine, gold borders on the plans, wheels to the boards and gold trimming of leaves.
