JEAN-FRANÇOIS BLONDEL - 1681-1756 Description des festes données par la Ville de Paris a l’occasion du Mariage de Madame Louise-Elisabeth de France, & de Dom Philippe, Infant & Grand Amiral d’Espagne, les vingt-neuvième & trentième Août mil sept cent trente-neuf Only one edition of the celebrated "book parties" celebrating the marriage of the princess of France, Marie-Louise-Elisabeth (1727-1759), with Philip of Bourbon (1720-1765), second son of Philip V of Spain. The festivities took place on days 29 and August 30, 1739 in Paris and on an artificial island built for the effect on the river Seine, opposite the Louvre, between the Pont Neuf and the Pont Royal ". The illustrations, intaglio engraved (en taille-douce), include two stickers: one on the front page, with the coat of arms of Paris (185x175 mm), of Bouchardon and another at the beginning of the text (160x315 mm), Rigaud; and 13 prints, of which 8 double leaf, opened by Blondel, according to documents of Bonel, Gabriel, Sallet and Servandoni who was also the author of the project of the island. Clean copy, entire starched calf binding of the time, slightly fatigued, showing at the centre of both plans, the gold engraved super-libros with the coat of arms of the city of Paris.
