MANUSCRITO.- JOSÉ I, D. (Rei de Portugal).- Carta régia de padrão de tença.- Século XVIII (1760).- 1 documento (2 f.); 38 cm. Manuscript on parchment bifolio. Royal charter by which D. José I, King of Portugal, grants a pension of 30,000 rs. to Martinho Caetano Pegado de Oliveira, in recognition of 25 years of service by his uncle Gaspar de Sá Morais, a native of Chacim (†1729), in the ranks of Captain of Infantry, Sergeant-Major, and Lieutenant-Colonel, proving his valor in various campaigns and military episodes mentioned in the charter. The pension is part of the reward with which King D. José I honoured the heirs of Gaspar de Sá Morais, which included the granting of the habit of the Order of Christ and a pension of 12,000 réis to his nephew Alexandre José de Aragão Cabral and 120,000 réis to be divided equally among Dona Mariana Josefa de Aragão Cabral, Dona Joana Bernarda Ferreira Cabral, Martinho Caetano Pegado de Oliveira and Dona Antónia Josefa Pegado de Oliveira. Very clean and legible document, dated Lisbon, February 1, 1760. Autograph signature: “El Rey”. Holes for affixing the pendant seal (missing).
