One of the numerous editions published in Portugal (at least 25), by the famous Spanish humanist (1492-1586) who taught in Coimbra between 1538 and 1554, with the “Manual de confessores” being the one that achieved greater popularity. The title page features an elaborate xilographic architectural frame. The work is dedicated to Queen D. Catarina, wife of King D. João III. A treated, washed and re-glued copy; careful restorations to the lower outer corner of the first three sheets, lightly attached to the base of the xilographic frame. Recent binding, full sheepskin, with elaborate blind stamped on the covers and spine, to the taste of the time, probably from the workshop of master Império Graça. Anselmo, 242.
