An assembly consisting of 24 autograph letters, being 14 of Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro (1846-1905) and 10 of Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro (1857-1929), addressed to José Leite Guimarães, nephew of António José Leite Guimarães (1806-1876), 1st Baron of Glória, from who, along with her sister, Maria da Glória, inherited the Palace of Beau Séjour, in Lisbon. For the renovation of another estate in Benfica of which he was also the owner, José Leite, who had been a generous landlord of Rafael for 29 years, hired the three brothers Bordalo Pinheiro, Maria Augusta, Rafael and Columbano. Rafael letters cover the period between May 12, 1891 and November 24, 1899 and Columbano's are dated between June 13, 1887 and December 19, 1893. Almost all of them referred to ongoing work or commissions made by José Leite to two artists. This assembly is accompanied by the proper transcriptions, biographical abstract and cooperation with José Leite Guimarães. Autograph documents, dated and signed.
