The author, a native of Setubal, was pastor of the parish of Bucelas and publication of the Arte de Reinar was instrumental in his appointment to Guarda-Mor do Arquivo da Torre do Tombo. According to Inocêncio(I, p. 107), is bibliographically rare and highly priced book. The edition is well printed in two columns and includes a allegorical frontispiece intaglio engraved. Exemplar slightly trimmed (leaf cutting carmine) with a slight acidity, occasional of the period notes. Retains the frontispiece engraved very fresh, with little restoration on the back.
