MANUSCRITO.- PASCOAES, Teixeira de.- O homem universal.- Século XX (1936).- 250 f.; 145 mm Original autograph of one of the fundamental works of Teixeira de Pascoaes (1871-1952), pseudonym of the poet, writer and philosopher Joaquim Pereira Teixeira de Vasconcelos, born in Amarante, the first representative of literary saudade (a Portuguese word expressing a deep emotional state of nostalgic thinking), which, in its Sebastianist and messianic aspect, would profoundly influence the generation of Fernando Pessoa. “O homem universal” (The Universal Man), originally published in 1937 (Lisbon, Edições Europa), consists of a complex and exuberant reflection on the author's philosophical thought. Right at the beginning of the prologue, Pascoaes writes: I wrote this volume with the intention of elucidating for the reader the thought behind my work, from its origin (1897) until the year 1937. Original document, entirely autographed, with many erasures, composed of 250 loose sheets, small format (145x113 mm), written on one side only, dated Gatão, November 5, 1936
