MARTINET, François-Nicolas (grav.).- [Ornitologia].- Paris: Imprimerie Royale, 1749-1789.- 4 vols.: [384] gravuras color.; 30 cm.- E. Set composed of four volumes, each with a total of 384 copperplate engravings (96 per volume), hand-coloured, mainly representing birds and other bird species, by the French engraver François-Nicolas Martinet (1731-1800), probably coming from the work “Ornithologia sive synopsis methodica...” by the naturalist Mathurin-Jacques Brisson (1723-1806), published between 1760 and 1763, in Paris and Leiden. The engravings are numbered, with the following distribution by volume: I - 1 to 96; II - 97 to 192; III - 193-288; IV - 481-570. In the first volume, there are 24 engravings of butterflies and beetles and seven of reptiles and marine plants. Some engravings have slight moisture stains, but are generally clean and have good margins. Ex-libris by Victor d’Avila Perez in all volumes. Bindings very damaged (no value).
