MANUSCRIPTS.- D. MANUEL I, King of Portugal.- Carta régia de confirmação de mercê.- Século XVI (1514).- 1 f.; 290x515 mm. Manuscript on parchment, in Manueline cursive Gothic script. Letter of confirmation and favour by which King D. Manuel I grants Dona Mécia de Noronha, Countess of Vila Nova de Portimão, the tence of 100$000 reais that Count D. Martinho de Castelo Branco, her husband, had purchased from D. Maior de Sotomaior, widow of Gomes Ferreira, “porquamto o dito comde seu marido comprara a dita temça pera ela”. Document dated Lisbon, May 2, 1514. Autograph signature: “el Rey”. Clerk: Jorge Fernandes. It has two other documents inserted: a decree and a letter patent both from King D. Manuel I, dated respectively, Coruche, 7 December 1513 and Lisbon, 10 March 1501. Document slightly handled, but entirely legible, with some folding creases; holes and remains of suspension threads, in dark red ribbon, of the hanging seal (missing). Provenance: private collection.
