MANUSCRIPTS.- D. FILIPE II, & D. JOÃO IV, Kings of Portugal.- Carta de mercê de tença e quatro apostilas.- 17th century (1607-1649) 1 notebook (8 f.); 340 x 250 mm. Manuscript on parchment, in humanistic and cancelleresque script. Section sewn with thread with a letter patent of perpetual tence, with four apostilles added. Includes the following documents: 1 - Letter dated August 30, 1607, by which King D. Filipe II grants D. Beatriz de Mendonça, lady-in-waiting of Queen D. Margaria of Austria, a perpetual tence of 500$000 réis (includes two transfers of previous grants); 2 - Apostille from D. Filipe II, dated November 14, 1614, changing the tence from 500$000 to 400$000 réis; 3 - Apostille from , dated July 11, 1619, changing the place of payment of the tence of 400$000 réis from the Almoxarifado, fiscal administrative division, of Aveiro to that of Vila Real; 4 - Apostille dated June 11, 1649, on the death of D. Beatriz de Mendonça, in which King D. João IV grants his heir, D. Gregório de Castelo Branco, count of Vila Nova de Portimão, a tence of 340$000 réis; 5 - Apostille dated March 16, 1650, in which King D. João IV grants D. Gregório de Castelo Branco 40$000 réis of tence. The first three documents signed by seal: Rey; the last two with autograph signatures; Rey. The section still has remains of the suspension of the pendant seal (lead, missing), green, white and pink silk braid. Provenance: private collection.
