Royal charter, by which the Infante D. João (through his mother, Queen D. Maria I), grants José Caetano de Morais e Ataíde the right to own the office of almoxarife, high-ranking official of the public treasury, and judge of Royal Rights of the Commandery of Santa Maria in the city of Castelo Branco. Document dated Lisbon, 8 July 1786. Signed by seal: The Infante. Slightly faded and dusty parchment, with several checks and entries on the back. It retains the original plate seal.
