According to Inocêncio is a work of great erudition and its author denounces great studies and profound knowledge of ancient things. Friar Leão de São Tomás (1574-1651), was abbot general of the Benedictine Monastery of Tibães, and it was he who initiated the construction of the respective church, which was only completed in 1661. The two volumes present the following collation: I - [8], 566, [38] p.; II - [8], 519, [1] p. The first presents a beautiful portrait of Saint Bennedict, copperplate printed, on the verso of the third folio; the second includes an alphabetical catalogue of the coat of arms of the kingdom’s nobility, comprising 310 families. Slightly cropped copy, with slight browning, but complete and generally clean, preserving the rare portrait. Handwritten ownership on the front of both volumes: Luis (and L.) Correa. Ex-libris by Victor d’Avila Perez, loose (lot nº 7082 from the auction held in 1940). Contemporary bindings, fully of flexible parchment, worn and with some imperfections, loose from the body. Inocêncio, V, p. 170. Samodães, 3107. Arouca, S 277 and 278.
