First edition of this treatise, a monumental work by the famous Italian Jesuit painter and architect, born in Trento, who lived between 1642 and 1709. The collation of the two volumes (or parts) is as follows. Pars prima: [6 f.], [100, 6, 1 br.] p.: 1 engraved title, 1 engraving (verse f. prel. [5]), 100 engravings; second part: [8] f., [130, 1 br.] p.; 1 engraved title, 1 engraving, [119] engravings. The two volumes, with title pages and text in Italian, Latin and German, are illustrated with a total of 224 engravings (in fact 223), two are titles, two allegorical engravings, one with the five orders, the other on fresco painting , at the end of the second volume and 218 architectural engravings, all numbered. The first volume lacks engraving No. 71, which should have contained, on the verso, the text of engraving No. 72. In the second volume, the descriptions of engravings No. 112 and 113 are missing, but there is no gap in the sequence of engravings. Ex-libris and white seal of the Salema Garção bookstore.
