The author (16th/17th century), a Spanish Benedictine monk from the Monastery of San Zoil (Carrión de los Condes), about whom little is known, also published, on the same date and in the same city of Valladolid, a “Historia general de la Yndia Oriental los descobrimientos, y conquistas que han hecho las armas de Portugal, enel Brasil, y en otras partes de Africa, y de la Asia...”.
