William Jones (1746-1794), English philologist, born in London, known for his work on the relations between European and Indo-Aryan languages, which he defined as Indo-European; Among his vast bibliography, Jones also left us a renowned grammar of the Persian language, published in 1771. Very clean copy (probably washed), with a small marginal tear on the C8 sheet, without lack of support. Good full morocco binding, probably from the 19th century, with gold decoration (dentelle) on the covers, closed panels on the spine, rolls on the squares and thickness of the folders and gilt edges. It keeps the endpapers in marbled paper.
