Second Portuguese edition (the first was also printed in Lisbon, in 1566), of the second part of the Palmeirins cycle, a novel of chivalry whose first part, “Palmeirim de Oliva” was originally published in Salamanca, in 1512. The work is attributed, although not consensually, to Francisco Vásquez, born in Ciudad Rodrigo. Copy with browning, excessively trimmed, with occasional damage to some claims and signatures. Title page with deep restorations on the outer and inner margins (reinforcement on the verso) and on the imprint without loss of support. Sheet 145 (T1) replaced with sheet 152 (T8). Some leaves slightly frail, especially on the inner margin. Full sheepskin recent binding with blind tooling on the covers and spine, surely from the workshop of master Império Graça, with an engraving of the title “PRIMALEON” and the date “1598” on the front cover.
