Second edition of the works of Sá de Miranda (1481-1558), unanimously considered the greatest Portuguese poet of the 16th century, right after Camões and perhaps the one who most brought to us the echo of Renaissance ideas, the introduction of new literary forms being significant among which stand out the prose comedy, the new meter, the sonnet, the eclogue, etc. Inocêncio (III, p. 54) states that this edition should be preferred to the first, both being rare. Although the verso of the last sheet bears the statement COME- the copy is complete as no more text has been printed. Slightly cropped specimen, with slight foxing and discreet handling. Some imperfections on the title page: circular stamp (ø 36 mm) erased, causing severe abrasion; minor restorations on the upper and outer margins; ancient ownership with three initials F.X. S.
