Anno de 1589.- [2], 307, [1] f.; 19 cm.- E. Fr. Amador Arrais (ca. 1530-1600), Carmelite, figure of great intellectual magnitude in the 16th century and eloquent orator, was a royal preacher, coadjutor of Cardinal D. Henrique and bishop of Portalegre (1581-1596). Original edition of his «Diálogos», a work considered to be a significant milestone in Portuguese Counter-Reformation literature and a document that well reflects the mentality of the time, to which anti-Semitism and a tendency to quote classic authors such as influence of the humanistic current. Title page with restoration on the inner margin, next to the backbone; episcopal coat of arms partially filled in ink; back of last sheet with old handwritten annotations. For the rest, a slightly cropped specimen, with carmine edges, complete, solid and clean.
