First and only Portuguese edition of a free translation from Latin, attributed to Diego Afonso de Miranda, of the oldest biography of Saint Thomas Becket (ca. 1118-1170), Archbishop of Canterbury, assassinated in his cathedral by followers of Henry II, and canonized just three years after his death by Pope Alexander III. With the exception of the preliminary pages, the first lines of the text (p. 1), the colophon (p. cccj) and the current titles and first line of the final Tavoada, all the rest of the text is composed in Gothic rotunda characters.
