JOAÕ V | Pelos dous Irmãos. | CESAR FIOSCONI, JORDAM GUSERIO.- Lisboa Occidental: Na Officina de Antonio Pedrozo Galram, 1718.- [31, 1 br.], 183, [1 br.] p.: il.; 20 cm.- E. Original edition of this important arms manufacturing treaty that describes in detail the work of three gunsmiths brothers of Lisbon, of which only two sign the work under pseudonyms, since at the time it was not customary to reveal the secrets of the profession. The real names can be seen, however, on the title page, miniaturized, being an integral part of the large copperplate printed vignette, above the imprint. The specimen, slightly cropped and with very minor stains, is complete and well maintained, conferring exactly with the English facsimile edition (although some books and engravings have different placement) of the responsibility of the collector Rainer Daehnhardt, with collaboration of W. Keith Neal (London: Sotheby's, 1974). Illustrations include an engraved allegorical frontispiece, before the title tpage, and 12 unnumbered engravings with the following placement: p. 6/7, 48/49, 76/77, 80/81, 82/83, 90/91, 94/95, 120/121, 130/131, 136/137, 146/147 and 158/159. All the engravings are copperplate prints, full-page or smaller format, except the first and tenth ones, which are both foldable. Page 163 also features a small engraving printed next to the text. Allegorical engraving and title page with traces of wormholes carefully restored. Very slightly handled specimen with occasional minor stains, coated with entire flexible parchment contemporay binding. Monteverde, 4601. Palha, 486. Inocêncio, IV, p. 24 a 28. Not mentioned in the main catalogues consulted: Samodães, Ameal, Ávila Perez, Auvermann, etc.
