The work by Henderson is an adaptation of Ayres do Casal's Chorography and is illustrated with 28 lithographs and two maps according to drawings of the author, «d'après nature». It also includes an extensive «list of subscribers» (p. XV a XXIII). Copy lacking front cover and preliminary leaf [a4, (“Notice to the reader”, p. VII with blank back)] and first engraving “John VI and his attendants” that should be near the front cover. It has, however, the remaining 29 engravings, 27 lithographs and 2 maps according to the drawings of the author, «d'après nature», including the rare lithograph No 23 in the index, “A Brazilian sesta, or afternoon nap”. Copy not trimmed with slight acidity; Folding map of Brazil with poor restoration on the back. Ex-libris on the back cover: Metropolitan Borough of Islington, Public Libraries; CANCELLED stamp on page [III]. Simple binding (of the time?) with damaged canvas spine.
