Letter by D. Henrique I (King of Portugal, 1578-1580) addressed to D. Rodrigo de Meneses, of the Royal Council, informing him of the arrival of a letter from representatives of the gentry captives in Fez. Asking him to take account of the outcome of the due diligence that was commissioned by the King as to the rescue of these Noblemen and pass the good reception of His letter. Hybrid cursive script of humanist base with cursive Gothic elements. Upper third of the bifolio (sheets of paper) with strong stain, allowing, however the full reading (low weight thin paper). Autograph signature: Rey (King). Keeps the sheet stamp with the coat of arms of Portugal. Document dated from Lisbon, November 7, 1578.
