"The Feast of the Gods", oil on octagonal board, Flemish school, 16th/17th C., small restorations, some wear signs to the painting, Notes: together with a restoration report from "Junqueira 220", The same theme was treated twice by Hendrick van Balen (the old) (1575-1632) and Jan Brueghel I (de Velours) (1568-1625). The first, datable circa 1600, is painted on copper (50,5 x 77,5 cm), is in the Louvre Museum in Paris (Inv. nº DL 1973-21), the second, datable circa 1606/1610, is likewise an oil on copper (47 x 66 cm), is in Angers in the Eveillard de Livois collection. The theme was also treated by Dirck (Jaspersz) van Baburen (1574-1632). The present representation differs from those by the fact that the painting is "vertically painted" giving a different perspective to the scene, being however very similar in many details.
