quatro das obras mais influentes da época, na história da veterinária de
equinos e da profissão de ferrador. Edição original ilustrada com 32
gravuras a talhe-doce, representando aspectos da anatomia do cavalo.
Exemplar um pouco manuseado, com falta da gravura VI (Represents the
bones of the hind leg and foot, both single and united); gravura III com
imperfeições marginais. Algumas anotações manuscritas marginais e
ocasionais manchas de tinta. Encadernação inteira de carneira da época,
cansada, mas sólida e recuperável.

XXIII). Exemplar com falta da folha de rosto, da folha preliminar [a4,
(“Notice to the reader”, p. VII com verso em branco)] e da primeira
estampa “D. John VI and his attendants” que devia figurar junto ao
rosto. Integra, contudo, as restantes 29 estampas, 27 litografias e 2
mapas), segundo desenhos do autor, «d’après nature», incluindo a rara
litografia com o nº 23 no índice, “A Brazilian sesta, or afternoon nap”.
Exemplar por aparar, com ligeira acidez; mapa desdobrável do Brasil
com restauro grosseiro no verso. Ex-libris na contra-capa: Metropolitan
Borough of Islington, Public Libraries; carimbo CANCELLED na página
[III]. Encadernação modesta (da época?), com a lombada em tela,
danificada. Meia-encadernação de pele, da época. Embora incompleto,
o exemplar integra um notável conjunto iconográfico brasileiro, do

fatigued but solid and recoverable.

Libraries; CANCELLED stamp on page [III]. Simple binding (of the
time?) with damaged canvas spine. Leather half-binding of the time.
Although incomplete, the copy is part of a remarkable iconographic

Original edition, illustrated with an engraved frontispiece (title
page vignette) and 14 intaglio (taille-douce) engravings. The
above title was quite shortened. Trimmed copy slightly handled
and with light stains; marginal and minor traces of worm work.
It is, however, complete and solid. Handwritten ownership on
the fly guard: David Adams Windsor, Dudley. Fatigued and
entire calf binding of the time.
