Segunda edição (a primeira é de 1664). Sir Peter Wyche (1628-
1699?), erudito viajante e diplomata inglês, natural de Londres,
foi fundador e presidente da Royal Society. A obra é dedicada
à rainha D. Catarina de Bragança, mulher de Carlos II
de Inglaterra. A edição inclui um prefácio do tradutor,
com uma síntese da história de Portugal. Exemplar com acidez,
manuseado e com falta do retrato de D. João de Castro; a
gravura desdobrável de Diu aparada e com margens imperfeitas;
folha de rosto com algumas manchas. Meia-encadernação
de pele, do século XX.

Second Edition (the first dates from 1664). Sir Peter Wyche
(1628-1699), English diplomat and scholar, born in London,
he was founder and Chairman of the Royal Society. The work
is dedicated to Queen Catherine of Braganza, wife of Charles II
of England. The Edition includes a foreword by the translator
with a summary of the history of Portugal. Copy with acidity,
handled and lacking the portrait of D. João de Castro; the fold-
out engraving of Diu is trimmed and with imperfect margins;
title page with stains. Half-leather binding, 20th century.
