Edição original, ilustrada com quatro gravuras
a vermelho representando as insígnias dos
diversos hábitos. Assinale-se que a Ordem de
Cristo foi instituída por bula do papa João XXII
(1319) a pedido de D. Dinis, e veio a herdar
todos os bens da Ordem do Templo, sendo
assim considerada uma ordem exclusivamente
portuguesa. Veio a ter grande influência na
época dos Descobrimentos, sobretudo pela
sábia administração do infante D. Henrique.
Além dos estatutos, a edição inclui ainda
várias bulas relativas à história da Ordem. O
exemplar está completo, mas apresenta alguma
confusão na forma como foram organizados e
encadernados os cadernos: [1] f. com o rosto
(verso em branco); [4] gravuras a vermelho; [1]
f. com a licenças (verso em branco); [2] fólios
com o index dos titvlos (assinaturas ¶1 e ¶3,
por lapso, em vez de ¶2); texto de p. 1 a p. 274
(com erros de paginação e foliação; fólio Z3
encadernado a seguir ao fólio Z1 e antes do
fólio Z2); [7] fólios finais de index alphabetico
(fólio ¶5 encadernado a seguir ao fólio ¶3 e
antes do fólio ¶4). Ligeiro aparo e leve acidez;
pequenas manchas de tinta junto ao corte
inferior das primeiras sete folhas;minúsculo
furo de traça central nas primeiras 11 folhas.
De resto, um exemplar muito limpo e sólido.
Ex-libris de Victor d’Avila Perez (não incluido
no catálogo do leilão). Encadernação da época,
inteira de carneira, conservando as guardas

Original edition, illustrated with four engravings in red representing the emblems of
the various habits. It should be noted that the order of Christ was established by Papal
Bull of Pope John XXII (1319) at the request of King D. Dinis I of Portugal, and came to
inherit all the estates of the order of the Temple, and is thus considered an order
exclusively Portuguese. It came to have great influence at the time of the discoveries,
especially under the wise administration of Prince Henry the Navigator. In addition to
the statutes, the Edition includes several bulls concerning the history of the order. The
copy is complete but presents some confusion in the way books were organized and
bound: [1] f. with face (blank back); [4] engravings in red; [1] f. with licenses (blank
back); [2] folios with the titles index (signatures ¶ 1 and ¶ 3, by mistake, instead of ¶
2); text of p. 1 to p. 274 (with paging and foliation errors; Folio Z3 bound after Folio
Z1 and before Folio Z2); [7] final alphabetic index folios (Folio ¶ 5 bound after Folio ¶
3 and before Folio ¶ 4). Slight trimming and slight acidity; small stains of paint along
the bottom cut of the first seven leaves; small central bookworm hole on the first 11
leaves. Moreover, a very clean and solid copy. Ex-libris of Victor d ‘Avila Perez (not
included on the auction catalogue). Entire calf binding of the time, keeping the
