M. D. LX. [1560].- [2], 112 f.; 28 cm.- E. Duarte Nunes (1530-1608), a learned historian, law graduate, chronicler, and judge of the Court of Appeals, after the death of D. Henrique, the Cardinal-King, warmly embraced the cause of D. Filipe I, whose right to succession he defended in writing against those who challenged it. This is an important 16th-century type of printing, produced by João Blávio de Colónia, a German printer who worked in Lisbon between 1554 and 1563, having produced more than 50 types of printing works. The two preliminary sheets include: a title page, with a framed architectural xylographic frame; on the verso, a royal charter dated October 2, 1559; followed by the dedication MVITO ILLVSTRE SENHOR (to D. Francisco Coutinho, Count of Redondo); on the verso, a small block of 14 lines AOS LECTORES, with instructions on the organization of the work. Slightly trimmed copy (carmine top edges), but very clean and solid; title page slightly shorter at the outer margin. 20th-century binding, with leather spine, with some damage to the turn ins.
