Original, large-format edition of an important title in Portuguese historiography that recounts the political and military events that occurred in Portugal between 1640 and 1668. The collation of each volume is as follows: I - [12], 908, [31, 1 br.] p.: 2 engravings; II - [20], 975, [1 br.] p. The first volume preserves not only the engraved frontispiece, but also the portrait of the author (signed Fred. Bouttats) which is missing in most copies. The second, printed by Miguel Deslandes, retains the engraved title page with a strong stain on the lower margin. T. Norton stamp on the first volume and scratched (old) ownership on the frontispiece of the second. Copy slightly trimmed, sometimes with slight browning, but generally clean.
