PEDRO II, D. (Rei de Portugal).- Cartas de mercê.- Século XVIII (1704-1705).- 2 documentos (2 f.; ±315 x 4460 mm & ±320 x 425 mm). Manuscripts on parchment. Two royal letters by which King Pedro II grants Tomás de Almeida the positions of Chancellor-Major of the kingdoms and lordships and Deputy of the Treasury and State of the Queen's Household. Documents dated Lisbon, respectively, November 18, 1704 and September 18, 1705 (autograph signatures: ElRey). Tomás de Almeida (1670-1754) was Bishop of Lamego (1706) and Porto (1709), first Patriarch of Lisbon (1716) and, in 1737, elevated to the dignity of Cardinal. Documents slightly handled, but entirely legible, lacking the hanging seals; the first with a support fault in the upper margin, without affecting the handwritten text; on the verso of both, several visas and registrations. Attached is a provision from D. Tomás de Almeida, by which D. Tomás "... ha por bem fazer doação da prata branca e dourada..." to the factory of his Church of Sta. Isabel; bifolio (4 p.), dated April 27, 1763 (autograph signature: Patriarch of Lisbon), retaining the plaque seal.
