CARVALHO E MELO, Sebastião José de (Conde de Oeiras).- Carta autógrafa.- Século XVIII (1759).- 4 p.; 225 mm Extensive, entirely handwritten letter, in the handwriting of Sebastião José, without indication of recipient, but probably addressed to D. Tomás de Almeida (1706-1786), also known as Principal Almeida, illustrious prelate and politician, principal dean of the Patriarchal Church of Lisbon. It refers to the appointment of two professors (of Grammar and Rhetoric), the adoption of classical books, and other matters relating to Public Studies. It should be recalled that, on July 6, 1759, D. Tomás was appointed Director-General of (Minor) Studies, a position he held for 14 years. Document dated August 14, 1759; signature: Count of Oeyras.
