It is with great pleasure that we present to you the catalogue of our live Auction 238, dedicated to Antiquities and Works of Art, Old Books and Manuscripts: a special auction, with a single session, covering a wide range of pieces of particular quality, rarity and antiquity, which is to take place on Monday, December 15th, at 6 pm.

This is a particularly fitting occasion to announce something new regarding priority bidding on goods in our live auctions: the significant discount we’ll offer to priority bids i.e, commission bids received in advance for each lot – internationally known as priority bidding – under the terms detailed at the end of this presentation.

Afonso V grants Doctor João Fernandes da Silveira (ca. 1420-1484) the title of Baron of Alvito. Document of great historical importance, concerning the creation of the first barony in Portugal, pushing back the date presented by historiography by two years. Please note that this discount:

a) applies only to our live auctions, not to our online-only auctions;

b) applies both to traditional commission bid forms signed and received as well as to commission bids received electronically, but in both cases only if they are registered at the Cabral Moncada Leilões www.cml.liveauctions.pt bidding platform and, among these, only to those received within the deadline indicated above;

c) once a commission bid has been received under these terms and within the established deadline - a priority commission bid - the 10% discount (excluding VAT) remains valid and is owed even in the cases where the bidder later wins the item at auction for an amount higher than their initial priority purchase order.
