The Portuguese Infanta Antonia Augusta of Braganza, who married Leopold, Prince of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen in 1861, visited Portugal in 1887, as a widow. This visit may coincide with the manufacture of this salver, as it bears the "Boar" hallmark, introduced that same year.
