Luciano de Samosata (ca. 125- ca. 181), Greek author from the Hellenistic period, born in Samosata (Syria), was known for his satires and criticism of customs, exerting a strong influence on several modern authors, namely Erasmus, Rabelais, Quevedo, Voltaire and even Machado de Assis. Parisian edition of his complete work, with interpretations by great names of Renaissance humanism, such as Erasmus of Rotterdam, Phillipus Melanchton, Thomas More, Augustinus Dathus and others. Copy slightly cropped (preserving wide margins) and with slight browning; small wormholes on the lower margin of the first 20 leaves. Modern binding, full sheepskin, with patina and gold decoration on the spine, in the style of the 18th century.
