Original large-format polychrome poster by the painter and watercolourist Alfredo Roque Gameiro (1864-1935), published in 1898 on the occasion of the Commemorations of the Fourth Centenary of the Discovery of the Sea Route to India by Vasco da Gama. Poster divided into four loose sheets, measuring 110x80 cm, presenting the following information: Portugal - Centenary of India - 1898 (in the upper half); Roque Gameiro (artist’s signature on the bottom half of the page on the left); Grand festivities in the city of Lisbon, during the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th of May [...] Great regattas on the Tagus [...] Free fair at the Avenue roundabout [...] Extraordinary bullfights, Competitions shooting, dazzling fireworks, etc. (extensive festivities program on the page in the lower half on the right side). The specimen, which has never been posted, has slight acidity; Well folded sheets, with some small flaws in the folds, packed in a modern non-acid cardboard box.
