ENCADERNAÇÕES.- CICERO, Marcus Tullius.- M, TVLLII | CICERO- | NIS | ORATIONVM.- Lvgdvni: Apvd Seb. Gryphivm, 1550-1551.- 3 vols.; 12 cm.- E. Junto com: CICERO, Marcus Tullius.- M. T. CIC. | EPISTOLA- | RVM, VOCANT, | FAMILIARVM | LIBRI | XVI...- 619, [1 br.] p.; 12 cm.- E. Set consisting of four volumes of 16th century Lyonnais editions with works by Cicero (106-43 BC), father of Latin eloquence, on the initiative of the Venetian humanist, diplomat and botanist Andrea Navagero or Andreas Naugerius (1483-1529), collaborator of Aldo, in Venice and later ambassador in Madrid and Paris. The first three volumes contain 57 prayers (minor fault in the lower margin of the first volume); the fourth volume, the 16 books of his “Epistolarum”. This set is notable for preserving the characteristic contemporary Lyonnais bindings, entirely in calfskin, with some wear, usually called “reliures à la cire”, with motifs intertwined in gold on the covers, filled with black wax (with the spines redone) and gilt edges, preserving the original marbled paper endpapers.
