Father Andres Merino (1730-1787), a notable Latinist, Arabist and calligrapher, was a member of the Religious Order of the Pious Schools, in Navarre, better known as the Piarist Fathers. A large-scale graphic work, illustrated with an engraved title page and 59 copperplate prints, representing examples of ancient letters, manuscripts, epigraphics, numismatics, cursive, calligraphic letters, abbreviations, etc. At the beginning it includes a list of subscribers comprising more than 600 names. Copy missing the first white free endpaper, retaining the original marbled paper endpapers (one loose). Otherwise, a very clean copy with good margins, covered in contemporary binding, full sheepskin, a little worn, with carminated and waxed edges. Brunet, III, coll. 1652. Palau, 165667.
