Landscape with figures oil on canvas minimal restoration signed GABRIEL RICCIARDELLI P. - probably Gabriel Ricciardelli (act. c.1740 - c.1779) Dimensões (altura x comprimento x largura) - 50 x 63 cm Notes: Gabriele Ricciardelli, whose signature appears in the form of an engraving on the stone pedestal visible on the right, was a landscape painter and engraver, born in Naples, around 1690. He studied under Nicolò Bonito (†1740) and Jans Frans van Bloemen (1662-1749) and was a recognized artist in Naples, at the court of Charles of Bourbon - 1716-1788, VII King of Naples, III King of Spain and VII King of Sicily, having worked on the Portici Palace and also on the transoms of the doors of the Royal Palace of Naples. He gained an exceptional reputation with his landscapes and views of Naples, having spent part of his career in Ireland (between 1753 and 1759) and England (1777). His four views of Naples, engraved by Antonio Cardon in 1765, were a great success among the British aristocracy. Source: https://www.christies.com/en/lot/lot-5339330
