It is, certainly, an offer from the prestigious goldsmiths and jewelers of Lisbon, to the newlyweds, on the occasion of the wedding of King D. Manuel II, with the German princess D. Augusta Victória of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, celebrated on the 13th of September 1913. The underlying binding is made of rigid parchment, on which a complex assembly of silver filigree was applied with large ornamental border stripes, made up of 20 quadrangular modules (45x45mm), with intricate plant motifs and relief brooches in the corners of both covers. In the central reserve of the front cover, a stylized representation of the Sintra Palace chimneys alongside a vase with flowers (bottom stripe with two faceted stones); below, the title of the work and the associated coats of arms of the Houses of Hohenzollern and Braganza, supported laterally on winged snakes. Surrounding the central reserve, a stripe with 20 moonstones in cabochons. In the center of the lower margin, an armillary glass sphere (on both covers). Central reserve of the posterior plane, not filled. Endpapers in watered silk, with an indication, on the top back cover, that the binding was restored in 1998 by the company Invicta Livro, from Porto. The copy of “O Paço de Cintra” belongs to the normal circulation and only retains the cover and upper brochure (without flaps). The volume is packed in a case, coated in blue velvet and lined with silk of the same colour, with a lock (missing the key).
