he is a sculptor from the island of Malta who worked in Portugal during the reigns of King D. José I (1750-1777) and Queen Dona Maria I (1777-1816) of Portugal. Artist referred as  "[…] professor natural de Malta, que estudara escultura em Itália, especializado na escultura de marfim […]" - cf. TEIXEIRA, Garcez - "Para a História do Monumento a D. José I". In 1770, he applied to the second tender for the execution of the royal statue of King José I: "Em sua nova edição, o concurso contou com a participação de um escultor maltês, Andrea Imbrol, único que sabia trabalhar sobre o marfim, juntamente com nosso escultor português" - cf.
