BIRAGO, Giovanni Battista.- HISTORIA | Del disunione | del | REGNO | di | Portigallo | Dalla Corona di Castiglia. | ... | Novamente correta, emendata & illustrata. | Con l'aggionta di molte cose notabili dal molto | Rdo. P. maestro FRA FERDINANDO | HELEVO...- In Amsteradam: Apresso Niculau van Ravesteyn, 1647.- [6], 796, [19, 1 br.], 44 p.; 15 cm.- E. An important part of the Restoration bibliography, entirely written in Italian and dedicated to Dom Vasco Luís da Gama, Marquis of Nisa. Giovanni Battista Birago (fl. 1641-1699), jurist and historian, born in Venice, was one of the main defenders of the Portuguese position in the controversy that followed the restoration of independence. Duarte de Sousa (nº 94) mentions a group of 10 p. in the end, probably by mistake, and they must be leaves. The present issue also includes an appendix “Manifesto per la parenteza de Ministri Apostolici dalla Corte di Portogallo” (group of 44 final pages), not mentioned in the consulted bibliographies. Slightly cropped, but clean copy. Contemporary binding, fully rigid parchment, with faults in the cover of the front cover. Edition not mentioned in the collection of the Viscount of Trindade.
