MANUSCRITO.- D. FILIPE II, Rei de Portugal.- Carta executória de fidalguia- Século XVII (1603).- 1 f; 45 x 60 cm.- E. Manuscript on parchment. Enforceable letter of fidalguia (or letter of coat of arms) granted in the name of D. Filipe II (1578-1621), king of Portugal (1598-1621), in favor of Filipe de Macedo de Castelo Branco, resident of Covilhã, by the main officer of arms, then Baltasar do Vale Cerqueira. First line (header), illuminated in blue and gold: Portvgal Rei d’Armas Prtçipa pelo Mto. Alto... This is followed by the text entirely handwritten in round humanistic lettering (32 lines). At the top, in the centre, the respective illuminated coat of arms (155 x 130 mm), exhaustively described in the text: “escartelado o primeiro dos Macedos... o contrario dos Costas..., o segundo de Castelbranco e o contrario dos Feos”. Document dated Lisbon, June 16, 1603, with autograph signature at the end: Pl. Rey darmas P. On the verso, a record, signed by Baltasar himself. Manuscript with several folds and some surface wear, but entirely legible, packed in a recent binding (33 cm), full sheepskin, with a label from the workshop of “A Carmelita”.
