A very clean copy, complete with 25 hand-coloured aquatints, bearing the following inscription: C.H.S. del. —Aquatinted by R. Havell. The 24 illustrations, with the respective explanatory text, all show, at the base, an archaeological artefact referring to the period of the represented figure. Heraldic ex-libris of Walter Ambrose Harding, Madingley Hall (1870-1942). Good contemporary binding, entirely crushed morocco, with double gold and blind ornamental borders on the covers (corners slightly creased), gold tooling on the spine (slightly worn), simple roll on the squares and gilt edges.
