James Murphy (1760-1814), Irish architect and traveller, native of Blackrock (Cork). Illustrated edition with 15 aquatints representing mainly Portuguese usages and costumes, and a fold-out map of Portugal. All engravings and the map respect the original placement, according to the “list of plates”, on p. [VII]. Very clean copy, with large margins, with the engravings in their original state (not in colour). Recent binding, complete in blue shagreen, probably from the workshops of the Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva Foundation, with a triple fillet in a peripheral border on the covers, closed panels on the smooth spine, roll on the squares and the gilt top edges (protective case).
